It was great to see so many of our clients all coming together for our June group, discovering how technology can secure both systems and data.
A ‘Platform to Share’, or user group, enables us to get into the detail behind the IT services and solutions we offer.
Within each of our sessions, we invite along some external speakers and it was wonderful to welcome Louisa Sharpless and Jamie Littwin from East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) and David Kerr from Datto.
Louisa focused on the implementation of Two Factor Authentication (2FA) across the charity to protect against data breaches. Office 365 and 2FA were rolled out to 130 users across 4 counties, 50% of which were remote workers.
2FA provided an extra layer of security, reducing the likelihood of identity theft and phishing scams – delivering reassurance across EAAA that confidential data is protected.
David talked us through the benefits of SaaS protection, enabling organisations to restore lost data in minutes, regardless of whether they are working in Google Cloud of Office 365.
SaaS Protection enables recovery from malicious or accidental deletion, as well as ransomware. Datto stores data in one of the largest private clouds, purpose-built for back-up and GDPR compliant. It recovers:
- OneDrive for Business files
- All contacts information
- Calendars and events
- All emails, attachments and notes
- SharePoint data
Breakwater’s Systems Engineer, Toby Kalkman, discussed Microsoft Intune – part of the Office 365 environment and a means of managing the mobile devices and PCs used within your organisation. Intune enables conditional data access control, restricting access, remote locking, password reset and even wiping all the data on non-compliant devices.
In future groups we want to talk about the topics that matter to you – do get in touch if there is a particular area of technology you would like to learn more about or if you are interested in speaking at our events.
Look out for more details of our next ‘Platform to Share’ to be held in September.
Thank to you all our clients for supporting us with this initiative and coming along to our June group.
I joined Breakwater as a Junior Systems Engineer – working with our Service Desk team to support them with enquiries and ensuring clients’ IT systems are operating effectively.
Breakwater has supported me in gaining technical qualifications since I joined the company, including my CompTIA A+ and Network+, resulting in the certification entitled CompTIA IT Operations Specialist. This has enabled me to progress within the business to my current role of Systems Engineer.View my profile >
We are really pleased to announce that Jordan Getley and David Parlour have both passed their CompTIA A+ qualification.
