The IT Reuse for Good Charter was created by The Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), Good Things Foundation, VodafoneThree, and Deloitte LLP.
We are proud to be among the first 100 signatories of the Charter.
The Charter is designed to promote a reuse first approach to IT equipment, such as laptops and telephones, and donate them to those in need.
By signing, we pledge to:
- take a reuse first approach to IT asset management – giving devices a second-life by refurbishing and gifting them to help close the UK’s digital divide
- embed this approach into ongoing IT asset management strategies over time
- ensure devices are securely wiped, refurbished to good quality, fit for purpose, and provided free of charge to support people and families in the UK who are digitally excluded
- measure and report bi-annually on the environmental benefits and social impacts
- share lessons learned and encourage others to join the movement

Since 2020, we have been taking second-hand devices to refurbish them and donate to local charities, schools, individuals, and community groups.
We have supported a wide range of people across Norfolk who needed devices, but there are still lots of people who need our help. The Good Things Foundation reported that 1.5 million people don’t have access to a laptop, smartphone, or tablet [source]. You can help us close the digital divide.
If you would like to donate devices as a one off, or consider a partnership with us, please get in touch via our contact form, or email enquiries@breakwaterit.co.uk.
