At the start of November, Richard Miller joined our Service Desk Team as a Senior Systems Engineer. Get to know him in our welcome questionnaire:
What is your professional background?
My background starts in 2009 when I joined BT Openreach under their apprenticeship scheme. I completed the apprenticeship, and worked for a further four years as a Customer Service Engineer, picking up various skills such as broadband faulting, and fibre broadband installation and faulting. In 2016, I left Openreach to join a local MSP as a first-line support technician, working from there into the Infrastructure team as a Technician and then an Engineer. I left in 2023 to join Briar Chemicals as an IT Infrastructure Engineer, where I worked for a year before joining Breakwater IT.
If you could only keep three apps on your phone, which would you keep?
Reddit, WhatsApp, and Apple Music.
What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?
Completing Run Norwich in 2024 in under 45 minutes. I trained for months, hoping for a best-case time of around 45:30 so I was elated to see my time on the day come in at 44:57. I don’t think I’ll be able to beat that…🏃♂️
If you had an extra hour in the day, what would you do with it?
Sleep….
Are you team iPhone or team Android?
iPhone, but I don’t take sides
Who is the most famous person you’ve met?
Alan Carr…at a rave…don’t ask…
If you could be any character in a video game, who would you be?
Pac-Man (because I also strive to eat everything).
If you could have invented or created anything, what would it be?
Something that translates our pet’s thoughts into human language…I’d love to know what my dog is thinking about…
If you were a wrestler what would be your entrance theme song?

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
Some sort of practising medical professional. That, or a stunt driver.
