As part of our team of Senior Engineers, Richard is one of the highest points of escalation for incoming technical issues raised by our clients. He is also involved in high-level project work.

“My background starts in 2009 when I joined BT Openreach under their apprenticeship scheme. I completed the apprenticeship, and worked for a further four years as a Customer Service Engineer, picking up various skills such as broadband faulting, and fibre broadband installation and faulting. In 2016, I left Openreach to join a local MSP as a first-line support technician, working from there into the Infrastructure team as a Technician and then an Engineer. I left in 2023 to join Briar Chemicals as an IT Infrastructure Engineer, where I worked for a year before joining Breakwater IT.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

“I’m very much into fitness including weight training, HIIT, and especially long-distance running. I love photography and I’m happiest when I’m exploring a new city or wildlife reserve with my camera. I’m also a petrolhead and love all things on two and four wheels. Apart from that, I enjoy music, film, cooking, and baking in my spare time.”

If you could have invented or created anything, what would it be?

Something that translates our pet’s thoughts into human language…I’d love to know what my dog is thinking about…

Thanks for your help and super quick turnaround on this ticket!
